Literature Text

How far I have fallen!
The Lord's not forgotten
the sins committed knowingly!
If I could count them all,
I'd certainly be appalled
at all the marks against me!

Oh, yes! The Accuser loves to see
me up and run and flee
from God, thinking I am damned!
But, lo! You see that cross there?
The tomb's empty, I could swear!
'Tis Christ, holding out his gracious hand!

I have taken it! So, what now?
Imitate Christ, of course! But how?
Oh, where can I even look?
Doh! It's so obvious!
How could I be so dubious?
Where to start is in the Good Book!

Yes! It's becoming clear now!
I have seen the light!
I know the Gospel and how
the Saviour rids of all our blight!

But, wait! What is this,
that bitter and vile hiss
from folks that try to steer me away?
They mock and derail!
Do they think they can prevail?
Oh, how tragic if judgement came today!

Their objections, are they true?
No, I can see right through
the lies they were fed all along!
With research and rhetoric,
my mind's tougher than a brick!
Of course, God is the one who makes it strong!

A pity, it surely is
how those scoffers were done in
by Satan's wily game!
Need the Saviour, they do!
Jesus saves, through and through!
Life without him would certainly be lame!

Oh, yes! If only how
these folks could see the light!
They could witness, now,
the Lord ridding of all blight!

Oh, great! I did it again,
this great and evil sin!
Sanctification surely is slow!
Yet, as works come
in response to what He's done,
He won the war! This, I know!

Save you, works do not.
It's the Blood with which you're bought.
See, works are the fruits of Salvation.
On that, do ponder.
And, to the Lord, surrender.
Eternal life has no expiration.

Seek Wisdom, you must,
from the godly or bust.
Also, do consult God's Word.
Through all this, you grow.
Development never stops, you know.
Please, reflect on what you heard.
This poem makes mention of some aspects of the Gospel, as well as people's response to it. The Gospel is:

Jesus is the Son of God, both fully Man and fully God, born of the Virgij Mary. He lived physically and sinlessly, taught his disciples, and died prior to bodily ressurecting in three days for our sins. By his blood atonement and bearing of our iniquities, we have the gift of eternal life.

Well, this was a longer poem than I usually have done, and it only took several days to finish!
